About

Groupe G²N Inc. is first and foremost…

A Quebec network of experts specialized in environment, geotechnics and laboratory analysis. Through its three divisions — Geostar, Notreau and GMT Lab — the group offers complete environmental quality management, from water to air, including soil and materials.

Born from a shared determination to raise industry standards, Groupe G²N Inc. brings together multidisciplinary teams of engineers, geologists, chemists, technologists and specialized technicians. Together, they share a single mission: analyzing with rigour to better protect, diagnose and build sustainably.

A comprehensive approach, from field to laboratory

One of the great strengths of Groupe G²N Inc. lies in the integration of its expertise. Geostar works in the field with environmental and geotechnical studies, drilling, sampling and site monitoring. Notreau, a laboratory recognized for over 20 years, ensures the analysis of drinking water, artesian wells and indoor air, in compliance with the strictest standards. GMT Lab completes this chain with specialized soil and construction-material analyses performed to ASTM, BNQ and LC standards.

This complementarity allows Groupe G²N Inc. to offer its clients comprehensive support, from sampling to interpretation of results, including laboratory validation. Each step is carried out with the same standards of quality, precision and transparency.

Expertise in the service of sustainable projects

Active in a bilingual regional market, Groupe G²N Inc. supports real estate developers, engineering and environmental firms, contractors, municipalities, institutions, businesses and individuals across Quebec. Whether the project is residential, commercial or institutional, the group is committed to providing reliable data and clear recommendations to support informed, responsible decisions.

Shared values, the same standard of excellence

Beyond technical expertise, Groupe G²N Inc. stands out for its human approach. Teamwork, scientific rigour, respect for standards and the environment, integrity and trust guide every intervention. This shared culture allows us to build lasting relationships with clients and partners while delivering accessible, responsive service tailored to real field needs.

By uniting the strengths of Geostar, Notreau and GMT Lab, Groupe G²N Inc. offers far more than services: it provides an integrated vision of environment and geotechnics, in the service of quality, public health and projects built on solid foundations.

Evolution of our companies
Groupe G²N Inc., Géostar, Notreau, GMT Lab

1999
Founding
Géostar

Founded in 1999 by Mrs. Susie Léger, a geologist by training, Geostar inc. first set up its offices in the former chapel at 207 Principal Street in Brownsburg-Chatham. The team, then made up of three employees, specialized in drinking water potability analysis for the surrounding municipalities and for residents of the region. A few years later, the company expanded its offering by adding soil testing services for septic installations for individual homeowners.

2006
Growth
Laboratoire Notreau

In 2006, Mrs. Léger, her son Mr. Ian Ménard and their associate Mrs. Guylaine Tardif founded Laboratoire Notreau, marking the opening of the air quality analysis department at 216 Principal Street in Brownsburg-Chatham.

2023
Expansion
GMT Lab

In 2023, Mrs. Léger and her son, Mr. Ian Ménard, founded GMT LAB and partnered with Mrs. Sarah Brodhead, Mrs. Liubov Zhuravleva and Mr. Benoît Charlebois to establish an independent laboratory specialized in geotechnics and materials testing. That same year, Geostar moved to 224 Principal Street in Brownsburg-Chatham, and GMT LAB set up its laboratory in the basement of the same building.

2025
Unification
Groupe G²N Inc.

The year 2025 marks a major turning point: Mrs. Léger retires and her son, Mr. Ian Ménard, is elected president of the three companies. They are then brought together, giving rise to Groupe G²N inc. Mrs. Elyane Breton, who was already working at Geostar, is appointed general manager and joins the group as a partner.

Today, Groupe G²N Inc. is a Quebec-wide reference for water, air and soil analysis. Bringing together Laboratoire Notreau, Géostar and GMT Lab under one banner, the Group forms an integrated network of experts offering a comprehensive environmental approach focused on sustainability, compliance and the quality of service provided to its clients.
